I thought Batman/Dark Knight was a great movie, engaging the audience right off the bat with that bank robbery sequence. The question of my day was 'whatever happened to Robin?' Or did Robin meet his demise in a prior Batman movie that I wasn't enticed strongly enough to see?

This movie sets the standard for Oscars for Best Movie and Best Actor. Something else will have to be absolutely terrific to have any chance of competing at all.

I was not impressed with this film at all... it was violent and sick. Why are we so fascinated with delving into the murkiest depths of mental illness and suffering? Just another Hannibal Lechter dismal experience in my opinion - nothing redeeming or of value, and America runs to throw money at it. Batman was once a gothic comic book hero, and what happened to Robin? Too gay? I just don't get it. It was another glorification of violence couched as entertainment. No wonder we can now torture and taser people as public policy. Sorry 4 the rant!!! But I truly love art and there was none here.

I thought this was more the Joker's movie than Batman's. He didn't have as much face time and Heath Ledger was so overpowering in his performance. His death is such a shame and you can tell the movie makers were hoping to have him back.

Laura, I always enjoy your reviews! You always have a unique and practical sense of things that make your reviews a pleasure to read!

I have yet to see the Dark Knight but I really enjoyed Maggie Gyllenhaal in Stranger Than Fiction.

Christopher Nolan is brilliant. I will have to disengage from a computer long enough to venture to the outside world and see this film!
